Municipal Elections


The Town holds a Municipal Election to elect a Mayor and Members of the Board of Trustees on the first Tuesday of April in even numbered years. This year's Election will take place on April 7, 2020.  This will be a Mail Ballot Election.  In addition, Town Hall will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Election Day to collect ballots.  Ballots MUST be received (Not just postmarked) at Town Hall by 7:00 p.m. to be counted.

At this Election, voters will elect a Mayor from candidates:

AND will elect three Trustees from candidates:
  • Troy Blum
  • Nick Ralston
  • Curtis Mork
  • Jeremiah Overman
A Candidate Form has been scheduled for March 10 at 6:30 p.m. at the Platteville Senior Center, 508 Reynolds Avenue, so that you can meet the candidates, and hear their views on community issues, and goals if elected.  Please join us!

2020 Ballot Issues and Questions:

Ballot Issue #1

SHALL TOWN OF PLATTEVILLE TAXES BE INCREASED BY $700,000 ANNUALLY IN THE FIRST FISCAL YEAR, AND BY SUCH AMOUNTS AS ARE RAISED ANNUALLY THEREAFTER, BY THE IMPOSITION OF A NEW 1% SALES TAX, COMMENCING ON JANUARY 1, 2021, ON THE PURCHASE OF TAXABLE GOODS AND SERVICES, WHICH ARE CURRENTLY TAXED AT 3%, FOR A TOTAL SALES TAX OF 4%, WITH THE REVENUES FROM SUCH NEW TAX TO BE USED FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, DOWNTOWN IMPROVEMENTS AND RECREATIONAL AMENITIES, AND SHALL THE REVENUES FROM SUCH TAX AND ANY INVESTMENT EARNINGS THEREON BE COLLECTED AND SPENT BY THE TOWN AS A VOTER-APPROVED REVENUE CHANGE, WITHOUT REGARD TO ANY SPENDING, REVENUE-RAISING OR OTHER LIMITATION CONTAINED IN ARTICLE X, SECTION 20 OF THE COLORADO CONSTITUTION OR ANY OTHER LAW?

SHALL TOWN OF PLATTEVILLE TAXES BE INCREASED BY $400,000 ANNUALLY IN THE FIRST FULL FISCAL YEAR, AND BY SUCH AMOUNTS AS ARE RAISED ANNUALLY THEREAFTER, BY THE IMPOSITION OF A SPECIAL SALES TAX OF 5%, COMMENCING ON JANUARY 1, 2021, WITH THE AMOUNT OF THE TAX INCREASING 1% ON JANUARY 1ST OF EACH YEAR UNTIL REACHING 10%, ON THE SALE OF RETAIL MARIJUANA AND RETAIL MARIJUANA PRODUCTS AND MEDICAL MARIJUANA AND MEDICAL MARIJUANA PRODUCTS, IN ADDITION TO THE GENERAL TOWN SALES TAX, COMMENCING ON JULY 1, 2020, WITH THE REVENUES FROM SUCH TAX TO BE USED FOR GENERAL GOVERNMENTAL PURPOSES, AND SHALL THE REVENUES FROM SUCH TAX AND ANY INVESTMENT EARNINGS THEREON BE COLLECTED AND SPENT BY THE TOWN AS A VOTER-APPROVED REVENUE CHANGE, WITHOUT REGARD TO ANY SPENDING, REVENUE-RAISING OR OTHER LIMITATION CONTAINED IN ARTICLE X, SECTION 20 OF THE COLORADO CONSTITUTION OR ANY OTHER LAW?
